Minerva Cleaning
How we collect, use and protect your personal information when you request a quote, book a clean or get in touch with us.
Last updated 7 August 2026
Minerva Cleaning provides window, gutter, exterior, interior and commercial cleaning services across Bath and the surrounding areas. We have been operating since 1990.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Minerva Cleaning is the "data controller" of the personal information described here. That means we decide how and why your information is used, and we're responsible for looking after it.
This policy applies to our website, our social media pages, our advertising, and the services we provide.
We only collect what we need to quote for work, carry it out and keep in touch with you.
We don't deliberately collect special category data such as health information. Please don't send us sensitive details unless we've asked for them.
We advertise on Meta's platforms. If you fill in an instant form attached to one of our adverts, Meta passes us the details you submitted — usually your name, email address, phone number and answers to any questions we've asked about the job.
We use those details to contact you about your enquiry and provide a quote. Meta also processes that information under its own privacy policy. Submitting a form isn't an order and puts you under no obligation.
Under UK GDPR we need a lawful basis for using your personal information. Ours are set out below.
| What we do | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote | Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract |
| Schedule visits, carry out the work and manage your account | Performance of our contract with you |
| Take payment, issue invoices and chase unpaid balances | Performance of our contract, and our legitimate interest in being paid |
| Keep accounting, tax and insurance records | Legal obligation |
| Send service reminders, for example when your regular clean is due | Legitimate interest in providing the service you've asked for |
| Send marketing emails or texts about our other services | Your consent, or our legitimate interest where you're an existing customer |
| Handle complaints, disputes and insurance claims | Legitimate interest in defending our position and improving our service |
| Measure how our adverts and website perform | Your consent for non-essential cookies, and our legitimate interest in running the business efficiently |
| Publish photographs of completed work | Your consent |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we've considered whether that use could override your rights and concluded it doesn't. You can object at any time — see section 10.
If you ask us for a quote or become a customer, we may contact you about similar cleaning services we think would be useful. We'll always give you a simple way to say no.
Opting out won't stop messages about work you've booked, such as appointment confirmations or invoices.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't pass your details to other companies for their own marketing.
We share personal information only where we need to, and only with organisations required to keep it secure and use it on our instructions:
If our business is ever sold or restructured, customer information may transfer to the new owner, who would be bound by this policy.
Some of our suppliers — including our website and CRM platform, and our advertising providers — are based outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where your information is transferred abroad, we make sure it's protected by a safeguard recognised under UK data protection law, such as an International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You can ask us for more detail about the safeguards that apply.
When we no longer need your information, we securely delete or anonymise it.
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including password-protected and access-controlled systems, encrypted connections on our website, and limiting access to people who need it to do their job.
No system is completely secure, but if a breach occurs that's likely to put your rights at risk, we'll tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office as the law requires.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 15. We'll respond within one month. There's no charge, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are strictly necessary for the site to work — for example remembering form entries and keeping the site secure. Others help us understand how visitors use the site and measure how our adverts perform.
Non-essential cookies are only set where you've agreed to them. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block or delete cookies entirely — though parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
Our website and social media pages link to other sites, including Google, Facebook, Instagram and review platforms. This policy only covers what we do with your information — we're not responsible for how other organisations handle it, so please check their privacy policies.
Our services are aimed at adults and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, please contact us and we'll delete them.
We review this policy regularly and may update it to reflect changes in how we work or in the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
If you have a question about this policy, want to exercise your rights, or would like to complain about how we've handled your information, get in touch — we'd rather hear from you first so we can put things right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
